Unfortuantely, if you do not have the recovery disks or if you do not have a recovery partition on the computer (it was damaged or the hard drive failed and has been replaced) you will either have to purchase a new version of Windows or get the factory restore disks from HP support - if they have them available (they probably don't if your system came with Windows XP).
