I am no Apple expert but I believe at this point most makes use the Thunderbot port for the external display. With the appropriate cable that can connect to a display using Thunderbolt, Display Port, Mini DisplayPort to DVI, VGA, HDMI. Some of them have an HDMI port for a direct HDMI to HDMI connection. Basically, you can use any standard display unit but you will need a cable/adapter to go from the connection of the Apple computer to the monitor.

Go to this site and enter your serial number and it will tell you what ports your Mac has.
