while watching a video, my sound cut off and wont come back on, how to fix?

while watching a videon online, my sound suddenly stopped working and will not work for anything else. gives me error message when i try to test my speakers. ive already checked my drivers, checked for muting (even though i wasnt touching the laptop when it happened), and ive also tried system restore
