I want to do a hard reboot to my windows 8 laptop. I know that I will loose any data I have saved but I am ok with that.

In windows 8 hardreboot means you need to restore your device to the date you want. To do so you can either use DVD that allows you to recover or repair your PC or using the Windows resource you can get youe task done. 

In windows 8 search for the Recovery and select the recovery options.
