how can i get any sound on youtube and skype?

When I try to watch something on youtube I have pictute but I have no sound. I have no sound on skype and other internet sites. When I watch a movie, which is downloaded on my PC, I have no problems, the sound is perfect, but when I try to watch something online - no sound at all.
